Title: Campbell County Cares Hospitality Drive

Description: Centra Health recently opened the Rosemary & George Dawson Inn, a twenty-room facility that provides family-centered, home-style lodging and support services to the families of patients who are receiving medical treatment away from their own communities. As part of their outreach efforts, Campbell County Youth, Adult and Community Services are collecting donated items to ensure visitors to our area are comfortable in their time of need.

“The visitors of the Rosemary & George Dawson Inn are here for health or their family’s health reasons and many have traveled a great distance from their home,” notes Taryn Anthony, Community Volunteerism Program Manager. “It’s our sincere hope that through the Campbell County Cares Hospitality Drive, we can show our support by collecting basic supplies to help make their stay a bit more comfortable.”

The Campbell County Cares Hospitality Drive is scheduled to begin February 1 and is on-going throughout the entire month of February. Items may be delivered to the Youth, Adult and Community Services building located at 34 Rails End Lane in Rustburg , VA between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Types of items to donate include:

Non-perishable food items: cereal, canned soups, coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, artificial sweetener, bottled water;
Travel-sized toiletries: small soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, lotions, razors, shaving cream, sewing repair kits;
Bulk kitchen/paper items: paper towels/toilet paper, plastic wrap, wax paper, dish/dishwasher detergent, trash bags;
Linens: white queen size sheet sets, white bath and hand towels, white washcloths.

  • Suspect Held After Minnesota Officer Killed During Traffic Stop

    iStock/Thinkstock(WEST ST. PAUL, Minn.) -- A suspect in the fatal shooting of a West St. Paul, Minnesota, police officer Wednesday during a routine traffic stop is being held at a local hospital after a manhunt and shootout.

    Authorities identified the deceased officer as Scott Patrick, 47. Patrick had been with the Mendota Heights Police Department since 1995.

    The suspect, identified as Brian Fitch Sr., 39, of South St. Paul, was arrested in St. Paul Wednesday night after he opened fire on officers, according to Sgt. Paul Palos of the St. Paul police...

  • One Killed, Three Injured in Small Plane Crash in San Diego Parking Lot

    Courtesy: msmidnite Instagram(SAN DIEGO) -- One person is dead and three others were injured in a small plane crash in San Diego on Wednesday.

    Fire Department spokesman Lee Swanson says two people were on board when the plane crashed into a parking lot between a Costco store and a Target store. 

    Swanson says one person aboard the plane was killed, and another suffered serious injures, while two witnesses to the crash were injured on the ground.

    The FAA and NTSB will investigate the cause of the accident.
