Title: Save More on Heating Oil this Winter
When: 10/10/2012
Description: Experts are predicting a

harsh winter. The heating oil

industry's Energy

Communications Council has

recommendations to save

energy and lower heating

costs:

1. Fill gaps around windows

and doors with caulking.

2. Cover old windows with

weather-resistant plastic

sheathing.

3. Insulate your attic.

4. Wrap exposed pipes with

proper insulation.

5. Replace manual

thermostats with a

programmable model and

lower temperatures while at

work or sleeping.

6. Open shades and drapes

whent he sun is out to help

warm your home, and close

them when the sun goes

down to reduce heat loss.

7. Eliminate gaps between

your door and threshhold by

adding a seal to the bottom of

the door.

8. Close your kitchen vents,

fireplace damper, and closet

doors, and remove or cover air

conditioners when not in use.

9. Move furniture away from

heating elements; it can block

heat from circulating.

10. Remember that hot water

uses fuel too. Try to reduce

consumption.

Jupiterimages/Thinkstock(FRESNO, Calif.) -- Accidentally butt dialing someone is embarrassing or inconsequential to most, but for two Fresno, Calif., men, their cell phone mishap landed them in jail.

But when no one answered, the operator didn’t hang up, instead staying on the line and listening to the pair, who police identified as Nathan Teklemariam and Carson Rinehart, both 20, as they talked about wanting to do drugs. It wasn’t long before the conversation turned to...
