A message from Ralph Stanley
Hi friends,
I appreciate the support you and have given me and my music over these many years.
Today I'm supporting one of our dearest friends, a former member of the Clinch
Mountain Boys. Lester Woodie is one of the fine fiddle players Carter and I had
during the early days of our career. We traveled and worked together 1949, 1950, and 1951,
until he had to play "second fiddle" to Uncle Sam. He performed on most of our
Columbia Recordings. Les has played music all his life, and is recognized in the
IBMA bluegrass music Museum Hall of Honor in Owensboro, Kentucky. He continues to
play today. This recording contains some of the great old songs and tunes, many of which
we played when traveling together.
